Recap: Lehigh Valley Comic Con

Saturday, December 7, was the most recent Lehigh Valley Comic Con, a small convention held on the campus of Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville, PA. Among the guests were Marvel Comics colorist Bob Sharen, who worked on (and signed) one of my favorite storylines from Iron Man, Marvel artist Bob McLeod, and Ren & Stimpy comic book artist Darren Auck.

I asked McLeod to sign my copy of Marvel Comics’ “Star Wars” issue 86, which features a one-off story reminiscent of the movie Enemy Mine, where Princess Leia and a stormtrooper from her home planet of Alderaan are trapped alone on an alien planet. It’s a great story, and Bob said he thought so too. I’d already had him sign my copy of The New Mutants issue #1 at a different con.

Bob Sharen was a long-running colorist on the “Iron Man” comic book in the 1980’s, and I had him sign a 3-issue run of issues 219-221, a story arc involving a villain called “The Ghost”.

Darren Auck, who drew most of the “Ren & Stimpy” comics, signed an illustrated print of Ren Hoeck as “The Joker”. I also picked up some indy comics from their creators. I’d love to review them for this site, but haven’t had a chance to read them yet.
