I got word from a friend this afternoon that there was a horror con happening right in my own backyard – at the Quakertown Farmer’s Market. Bone’s Bazaar Horror Market was its official name, although it took me considerable digging to find that – the event was not advertised on the Q-Mart’s website or its Facebook page. It also happened the same day as the town’s “Arts Alive” festival, so between those two I’m amazed anyone found out about it.
It was a small con, in a single large room, but it had dealers, guests and snacks – everything you need in a horror con. And it was free! Guests included:
- Nancy Anne Ridder (Scream)
- Michelle Santiago (Terrifier 2)
- Genoveva Rossi (The Walking Dead)
- Chanda Rawlings (The Legend of Crick Foot)
- Jesse L. Green (The Jester, Anna Key)
I struck up a conversation with Genoveva Rossi, and found out she appeared in Herschell Gordon Lewis’ final film, Bloodmania (2017), which was released after his death in 2016. She said he was kind, but hated anyone swearing on set. That was worth grabbing an autographed photo from that film. Thanks Genoveva!
